There are several options for day opportunities within North East Lincolnshire, these are all listed below.

 Queen Street Centre

The building has just been re-opened as a fully refurbished Health & Wellbeing Centre and is now running a whole host of community activities and day opportunities.

Day Opportunities provides a comprehensive choice of centre and community based activities for adults with Learning Disability. The service offers a wide of range of activities and opportunities in leisure, work and accredited courses within a building and community based environment. The activities are accessed through the day centre and at a range of local community venues within North East Lincolnshire area.

Day Opportunities offers adults with a learning disability the support to experience their local community and lead meaningful, purposeful lives of their choice. Some of the activities include : Nature Group , Tai Chi, Chair based exercise, rambling and health walking, Ten pin bowling, Green Bowls, Music, Cookery, Art and Craft, Ladies and Gents Social Group, Trampolining, Advocacy plus many other activities. Day Opportunities are always open to new ideas for activities and endeavour to maximise the extensive skills, experience and qualifications of their highly motivated staff team.

Day Opportunities aims are:

  • To recognise individuality and to ensure race, equality and diversity is positively promoted.
  • To provide an excellent service and equal opportunities to everyone regardless of their disability.
  • To ensure we continually improve our service by listening acting on our users and carers wishes wherever possible.
  • To proactively work and promote partnerships with other agencies and people in our local communities.
Queen Street now also opened a Cafe for clients of the centre and members of the public to use, serving a delicious variety of hot and cold foods from 8am till 2pm daily. To view the menu, please click the download below:

Cromwell Road Resource Centre

Cromwell Road Resource Centre provides therapeutic activities for people with complex needs. Here, people have access to physiotherapy, mobility, occupational activities, such as cooking, drama, open college, gardening and crafts. There is access to specialist support for equipment and regular health clinics.

The Curzon Centre

If you are over 65 years old and live at home or with friends (not residential care), you can attend the Curzon Centre.

The Centre is a place to meet other similar people, where you can do crafts, computers, quizzes, games, etc.

To get a service, you first have to contact the Care Management Team, who will assess your need and if applicable, make a referral.

The Val Waterhouse Centre Centre

The Val Waterhouse Centre (formerly the Freeman Street Resource Centre) is a multipurpose community centre, offering adult and youth training, community, social, sporting and cultural activities for the local community.

The centre has a cyber cafe, with support to use the Internet and rooms to hire for local activities. The centre provides advice and information on local services and ward councillors hold surgeries there.

Adult community learning courses are available, covering basic skills, information technology, English as a foreign language, etc
